Unbelievable Floriculture in Ukiyo-e at TOBACCO & SALT MUSEUM, Yokogawa, Sumida, Tokyo

31st January - 10th March, 2019 | The TOBACCO & SALT MUSEUM, Yokogawa, Sumida, Tokyo
Flowers, trees, and plants are significant existences that enable us to feel the changes of the four seasons. In the Edo period, scenic spots famed for the seasonal blossoming of flowers were more plentiful than the present and visiting such floral sights was a perfect pastime for the people. The area in which the Tobacco and Salt Museum is currently located (Sumida-ku) had many floral sights such as Bokutei, Kameido Tenjin, Kameido Umeyashiki, Omurai Umeyashiki, and Mukojima Hyakkaen. Such locations were frequented by the Edo citizens and they were also ideal subjects for ukiyo-e.   official website ››  https://www.jti.co.jp/Culture/museum_e/exhibition/2019/1901jan/index.html
