Hokkaido is biggest prefecture in Japan. Its prefectural capital is Sapporo where is famous for good food & winter sports. There are Aomori, Akita, Iwate, Miyagi, Yamagata and Fukushima prefectures in Tohoku Area. They are also beautiful place for winter fans.

Kanto / Koushinetsu Area

Tokyo is in Kanto area while this area covers Kanagawa, Chiba, Saitama, Ibaragi, Tochigi and Gunma prefectures. Kouchinetsu area has Niigata, Yamanashi and Nagano prefectures. (3 prefectures of Hokuriku area are sometimes go with Koushinetsu.)

Tokai / Hokuriku Area

Nagoya is in Aichi prefecture in Tokai area which also consist of Shizuoka, Gifu and Mie prefectures. Kanazawa is in Ishikawa prefecture in Hokuriku area. Toyama and Fukui prefectures are also in this area.

Kinki (Kansai) Area

Kyoto, Nara, Kobe and Osaka are in this Kinki area. Prefectures of this area are Kyoto, Nara, Hyogo, Osaka, Shiga and Wakayama. Kinki area is about same area of Kansai. But when it is said kansai, Mie and Tokushima might be covered.

Shikoku / Chugoku / Kyushu Area

Shikoku Island area covers 4 prefectures of Kagawa, Tokushima, Kochi and Ehime. Chugoku, meaning the same sound of china in Japanese, is the area of Okayama, Hiroshima, Tottori, Shimane and Yamaguchi. Kyushu area is the southern part of Japan. Fukuoka, Oita, Saga, Nagasaki, Kumamoto, Miyazaki, kagoshima and Okinawa prefectures are in this area.
